Coming Home: Our Move to Century 21 Signature Service

Twenty years in the making.

Sometimes moving forward means returning to where things started.

We’re excited to share that Deogracias Real Estate Group has joined Century 21 Signature Service.

If the name sounds familiar, there’s a reason. Before becoming Century 21 Signature Service, the brokerage was Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Signature Service. And when I began my real estate career in 2007, it was Signature Service GMAC Real Estate. That is where I learned the fundamentals of the business, under the same broker who helped shape how I approached real estate from the beginning. Many of the colleagues who were here when I started are still here today.

Nearly 20 years later, returning feels less like joining a new brokerage and more like coming home. The timing also feels right. Uncertain times have a way of making us look more closely at what matters. We start asking what is working, what is not, where we are wasting time and energy, and what we could be doing better. We have been asking those same questions about our business.

Emmy and I have spent a great deal of time thinking about the experience we want our clients to have, not just when they are buying or selling, but in the years between transactions. Real estate has changed significantly since 2007. Technology has changed. Marketing has changed. The way people access information has changed. And what clients should expect from their Realtor has changed too. Our business needed to evolve with it.

Nelson Goulart and I. A lot has changed since this photo: the hairstyles, the outfits, the real estate market 😅, but some relationships stand the test of time.

This move was never simply about changing brokerages or putting a different logo beside our name. It was an opportunity to simplify, improve and become more intentional about how we work. That meant keeping what works, improving what could work better and getting rid of some of the dead weight that naturally builds up over time. The result is a clearer approach to our business and the way we serve our clients.

We want to communicate more clearly, give better advice, prepare more thoroughly, build smarter strategies and execute more efficiently. Just as importantly, we want to stay useful long after a transaction is finished.

A home is often one of the largest assets a person owns, yet many homeowners go years without having a meaningful conversation about its value, their local market or how their real estate fits into their future plans. We want to change that.

Our clients can expect more regular communication, including annual home evaluations, market updates, homeowner resources, educational content, contests, community initiatives and client appreciation events. Not every conversation needs to be about buying or selling. Sometimes it is simply about understanding what your home may be worth, what is happening in your neighbourhood, whether a renovation makes financial sense or what your options might look like a few years from now. That is the kind of relationship we want to build.

Our move back to Signature Service also feels meaningful because of the people. There is something reassuring about working again with people who knew me when I was first learning this business. But this is not about going backwards. I am returning with almost two decades of experience, a much clearer understanding of the business we want to build and a stronger appreciation for what clients actually need from us. In many ways, it feels like the best parts of where we started are meeting the business we want to become.

The fundamentals are still the same: treat people properly, give good advice, work hard and protect your clients' interests. Everything around those fundamentals can keep improving. Better systems. Better communication. Better marketing. Better education. Better service.

To everyone who has trusted us over the years, whether you have bought or sold with us, referred someone, attended an event, watched one of our videos or simply stayed in touch, thank you. You have helped shape the way we think about this business and what we want it to become.

We are excited about what comes next. And after almost 20 years, it feels good to be back where it all began.

It feels like home.
